Stevens Point Area Fishing

There is no shortage of amazing fishing in the Stevens Point Area. Many people are unaware of the diverse fishing that the Stevens Point Area has to offer. From the trout streams of the Tomorrow River to the sloughs and backwaters of the Wisconsin River that are ripe with abundant species of fish and wildlife, the area offers some of Wisconsin’s premier angling.

Meet Craig Cook and find out more about this veteran-owned fly fishing store, tucked in downtown Stevens Point.

Can't Miss List:

The Wisconsin River is a diverse location to drop in a line for a wide variety of fish species. Whether you are exploring the expansive Lake DuBay (an impoundment of the river) or the many backwaters and sloughs, fish are scattered throughout the diverse habitat.

  • Don't miss your chance to snag a catfish along the "catfish corridor"!

Have you tried fly fishing? The region boasts a wonderful trout stream, the Tomorrow River, which carves its route through eastern Portage County. Each May, the local Trout Unlimited club hosts workshops to help you learn everything you need to know, from fly-tying to casting.

No boat? No problem. Shoreline fishing is abundant. Try Lake Emily and Sunset Lake to start. If you want to fish with a boat, check out boat rentals available at local outfitters, like DuBay Waters.

  • Insider Tip: handi-cap accessible piers are available at Lake Emily, Stevens Point Flowage (off Hwy HH West), and the River In-Between Flowage (off West River Drive).
