Job Title: Visitor Information Specialist / Marketing & Public Relations Coordinator
Category of Employment: Intern (Part-time, temporary)

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Writing press releases, writing editorial copy for print and web-based use, maintaining clip files, maintaining a community calendar of events, maintaining photo and video library, entering member/public relations-related information into database management system. Administrative and clerical duties are also a part of this position including but not limited to the following: Coordinate mailings and collateral fulfillment, answer and route phone calls and emails, greet & assist walk-in visitors & provide knowledgeable information on Portage County and Wisconsin destinations, and maintain information displays.

Education and/or Experience: Well-versed on the Stevens Point Area/Portage County, highly organized, adaptable, excellent customer service skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and knowledge of Microsoft Office Software. We are a busy organization with diverse opportunities for practical, hands-on experience in tourism PR. Graphic design, videography, and photography knowledge a plus.

Physical Demands: 
A successful employee may experience the following physical demands for an extended period of time:

• Viewing computer monitors
• Visually inspect and review graphic designs, written scripts, text, and photography
• Sitting at desk or conference table
• Carrying equipment/literature up to 40lbs. is required
• Standing

Qualifications: 

• Able to work an occasional night or weekend
• Must be a “People Person” – feel comfortable talking to strangers
• Must be comfortable working alone and with little supervision
• Have a valid driver’s license; access to a car a plus
