Join the fun this winter in the Stevens Point Area with some of the best holiday events, breweries, outdoor activities, and more fun! Check out our list of 30+ things to do this winter while visiting the Stevens Point Area! 


1. Central Waters Anniversary Party

Central Waters is turning 27! On January 25th, 2025 they will be hosting their anniversary party featuring great brews, great food, great performances, and more! 
 

2. Iverson Park

Head over to Iverson Park for outdoor winter fun. There, you can find sledding, ice skating, and toboggan slides for those of all ages! Take a break and head into the warming house for hot chocolate when you are done!
 

3. Allen F. Blocher Planetarium

Visit the Allen F Blocher Planetarium on the UW-Stevens Point campus for different winter programs. They offer various programs for free - with donations encouraged - to both UWSP students and the public.
 

4. Point Brewery

Stop at one of the oldest continuously operating breweries in the world and a local favorite since 1857, the Stevens Point Brewery. Be sure to taste the Snow Pilot or a Point Bock for a winter favorite. 
 

 

5. Fairy Tale Ball

On January 11th, meet the most beloved Fairy Tale characters with the Playhouse Theater Group's Fairy Tale Ball. Grab some autographs, take pictures, enjoy desserts, and join your favorite characters on the dance floor. 
 

6. Children's Museum

Indoor fun for children can start at the Central Wisconsin Children's Museum. Enjoy interactive exhibits, activities, and obstacles, or hit the art room all while visiting the Children's Museum. 
 

7. Live Music

Find warmth with some live music, indoors! Live music can be found regularly at many spots around town, including Sunset Point Winery, The Annex and O'so Brewing Company. Or, check out the offerings with the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra and UW-Stevens Point.

8. Schmeeckle Reserve

Head out for a winter hike through Schmeeckle Reserve where you can enjoy meandering through 5 miles of trails and boardwalks. Then, make a stop and visit the Schmeeckle Reserve Visitor Center which is the headquarters of the Green Circle Trail for more information on winter activities.
 

 

9. Stay active indoors

From curling at the Stevens Point Curling Club to yoga at The Wellness Spa or the Jensen Center, you will be sure to find ways to stay active indoors. Join a league at the SentryWorld Fieldhouse for fun all winter long with many things to do from pickleball, tennis, volleyball, and more fun to stay active!

10. Santa Sightings

Santa will be visiting early this year so make sure to get out and say hi, snap a picture, or drop off your Christmas letters. Find all the places Santa will be visiting with our roundup of Santa Sightings.
 

11. Museums

Visit the Wisconsin Conservation Hall of Fame in the Visitor Center at Schmeeckle Reserve. At the hands-on museum, you can learn more about the story of conservation in Wisconsin through time. Also, check out the Museum of Natural History on UWSP campus in the Science Building. Although not fully open to the public yet, they frequently have workshops for kids. 
 

12. Ice Skating

Grab your skates or rent a pair at select locations for fun on ice this winter. Check out outdoor skating rinks at Iverson Park, Goerke Park, and downtown at The Square. Prefer indoor skating? Head to the K.B. Willet Ice Arena where they host open skate times.

13. Downtown Stevens Point Christmas Crawl

Put on your favorite ugly sweater and Christmas onesies and get ready to crawl. Visit a variety of downtown bars during Christmas Crawl on December 21st, and try drink specials at all participating bars and enter to win door prizes. The event will go rain or shine so get ready for fun! (Must be 21+ to participate). 
 

14. O'so Brewing

Head to O'so Brewing for a taste of Wisconsin-made products! Take a seat at the cozy bar or stop in and listen to live music. Be sure to try their Infectious Groove ale, a kettle-sourced blonde ale that is refreshingly tart and ends with a light dry finish. 
 

15. Enchanted Forest

Head out to the Rosholt Fair Grounds this winter to view the Enchanted Forest Christmas light show on display the first three weekends in December. Visit with Santa on Saturdays, and view their live nativity scene on select weekends.
 

16. Shopping in downtown Stevens Point

Head to downtown Stevens Point to find an abundance of shopping. For the children or children at heart, Gepetto's is a favorite. 17. Food + Farm Exploration Center

Learn about where your food comes from at Food + Farm! Check out their exhibits and cooking classes. If you get hungry, pick up lunch and a dirt cup at the Colorful Plate Café located inside the building.

 

18. New Years Bashes

19. Green Circle Trail

21. Putt-n-Play

Head indoors and find fun at Putt-n-Play. Hit the Northwoods-themed 18-hole mini-golf course before grabbing a bite to eat. Then hit the arcade room for games or grab a board game for some family fun.

22. Ice Age Trail

For a long walk, head over to the Ice Age Trail, a 1,000-mile footpath that traces the state's rich glacial features. If the conditions exist, try snowshoeing along the trail!

23. Sunset Point Winery

Grab a tasty glass of wine and grab a seat in a swing while visiting the tasting room at Sunset Point Winery. Even take a tour for $14 on Saturdays at 3:30 pm and bring your souvenir glass home with you!
 

 

24. George W. Mead Wildlife Area

While the George W. Mead Wildlife Area is a great nature preserve with snowshoeing and winter hiking available, they also have great winter events to get people outside and active. Their events feature open snowshoeing, various presentations, guided hikes, and more!

25. Delicious Coffee Shops

In the Stevens Point Area, you can't miss out on the plethora of local coffee shops that are located all over the county. You can find Ruby Coffee (both in downtown Point and Nelsonville), Emy J'sMission Coffee, and the Library Café all in the Stevens Point Area.

26. Murals

29. Galaxy Comics

Head indoors for comics, games, and more at Galaxy Comics. From Lorcana to Dungeons & Dragons, there are plenty of opportunities to hang inside away from the chilly weather while still having fun!
 

30. Standing Rocks Park

Gain a little speed this winter and enjoy cross-country skiing at Standing Rocks Park. Or, head out and enjoy the fat tire and snowshoe trails throughout the park. Need rentals? The park offers rentals at the Behnke Olson Outdoor Recreation Center (BOORC).

31. Local Flavor

32. UWSP Athletics 

Head indoors for some live-action and catch some University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point athletics. From men's and women's hockey, basketball, and wrestling to swim and dive or indoor track and field, you will be sure to find your sports fix while in the Stevens Point Area. 33. Bowling

Hit the lanes this winter in the Stevens Point Area! At Skipp's Bowling or Whitetail Lanes, you can be sure to find an open lane. Looking for something more competitive? Be sure to check out their bowling leagues offered throughout the week as well. 


34. Cheese 

Calling all cheese lovers! Stop by Mullins Cheese for 50 varieties of fresh cheeses, a take-and-bake pizza, and even deep-fried cheese curds! Another local favorite serving up fresh, squeaky cheese curds daily is Feltz's Dairy Farm!


35. Winter Farmers Market

All winter long you can head to the winter farmers market at the Boys and Girls Club in Stevens Point. There you can find fresh fruits, veggies, produce, and more! Stop by and grab a fresh breakfast between 8 am and 12 pm on Saturdays!
