Central Wisconsin Children's Museum
The Central Wisconsin Children's Museum has a bunch of fun for the kiddos! From the Create-It! Art Room and STEM Lab to Wild Wisconsin and Pet+Vet, there are a plethora of exhibits that any kid can run around and even learn from.
Gepetto's Workshop
Across the street is the eclectic toy store, Gepetto's Workshop, that has something fun for every kid, or parent, to enjoy and play with. Spending time inside this fun-filled store is sure to warm anyone up in the cold winter.
Bound to Happen Books
This indie bookstore is a great place to find your next nighttime read. Bound to Happen has a comfy corner for families to read together and to choose which stories to bring home.
Putt-n-Play
The only indoor mini-golf in the Stevens Point Area is the perfect spot for some indoor family fun! Stop into Putt-n-Play for a game of mini-golf on their north-woods-themed course, play a few games at the arcade, and top it off by grabbing a bite to eat.
Allen F. Blocher Planetarium
Visit the Allen F. Blocher Planetarium on the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point campus and catch a public program. Shows are open and free to the public (although donations are greatly appreciated).
Olson Museum of Natural History
Although the new location is still under renovation, they are offering a wide variety of events for kids. With everything from story times, labs, and special discoveries every other Thursday, the Museum of Natural History is a great place for kids to both learn and have fun.
Food + Farm Exploration Center
Just south of Stevens Point, the Food + Farm Exploration Center offers interactive exhibits where kids can learn the process of how food reaches their plate! Don't forget to snap a picture of the World's Largest Potato Masher!
Outdoor Fun
Green Circle Trail
On the Plover River segment of the Green Circle Trail, try out some cross-country skiing when conditions allow. Other areas of the 27-mile scenic hiking trail are open throughout the winter for fun exploring! For more information on winter activities, stop at the University Trail that meanders through to the Schmeeckle Reserve Visitor Center, which is the headquarters of the Green Circle Trail.
Standing Rocks
For more cross-country skiing, check out Standing Rocks County Park, which is open daily throughout the snow season. Lighted loops are available, including trails for snowshoeing and fat-tire biking. Rentals are available at the Behnke Olson Outdoor Recreation Center (BOORC) on-site.
Stevens Point Sculpture Park
An outdoor venue that combines art and culture in the Stevens Point Area is the Stevens Point Sculpture Park. Visit the 20-acre park that is always growing and changing for some family fun, as well as a unique experience and view of creativity.
Iverson Park
For some outdoor fun, be sure to check out Iverson Park. With sledding, tobogganing, snowboard hills, and cross-country ski trails, you can't go wrong. Have young kids? Iverson has a sledding hill designated for children 6 and under.
