I’ve been on a journey, following my fork to some of Stevens Point area’s finest food stops. This project focused on businesses that specialize in farm to fork cuisine. The food that I had was some of the best that my taste buds have experienced. My favorite thing about this adventure was the variety of flavors. There was spicy, savory, herby, cheesy, salty, and sweet. If there was one word to describe this entire experience it would be delicious.

Haven’t been following along? Let me introduce myself. Hi, I’m Maggy Isham. I’m a communications senior with an emphasis in media studies at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. I am completing my internship at the Stevens Point Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. The idea for this vlog was inspired by my love of food and digital media. This project allowed me to meet some amazing chefs and bakers and experience true passion for local sustainability. There is so much care put into the recipes and it’s really cool to experience true farm to table cuisine.

Where I went

I went to Father Fats Public House, El Jefe Tacos y Tequila, Christian’s Bistro, CPS Café, Main Grain Bakery, and Earthcrust Bakery.

Highlights

Some of my favorites included the slow roasted pork nachos from El Jefe’s, the oatmeal cream pie cookie from The Main Grain Bakery, and the corned beef with fennel dressed slaw from Christian’s Bistro. Every bite had me wanting more.

If you didn’t get a chance to try any of these dishes like me, don’t feel bummed because there are plenty of restaurants in the area that create food packed with flavor. If you’re looking for more bakeries in the area, try Zest in Stevens Point or Village Hive in Amherst. And, around here the classic Wisconsin supper clubs are no secret. Be sure to check out Sky Club, Michele’s, or Two Lakes. Looking for something new? Check out the newest additions in the area; The Watchman’s Gone, and McZ’s Brewpub!

A big shout out to each business for letting me come in and try all of their amazing food.

Looking for more?

Food is no joke in this area, whether you are looking for local flavor or exploring the supper club scene, and I look forward to coming back and sharing my experience with my friends and family.

Until next time!
