Meet O’Phalen Adventures! They’re a fulltime RV family of 5 and professional content creators. They live for family adventures, whether it's a day absorbing culture at an art museum or backpacking a Colorado 14er.

On their trip through the Stevens Point Area, the O’Phalen family discovered a mix of experiences perfect for couples, families, and anyone craving a little fresh air and fun. From peaceful campground stays and scenic trail rides to charming downtown strolls and local brews, follow along as they share their favorite spots (plus a few insider tips!) from their visit.

First Stop: Wild West Campground and Corral

Camping at Wild West Campground and Corral is a phenomenal experience from start to finish. Booking is easy, and check in was smooth. The RV sites are huge and beautifully maintained, and the campground was so peaceful at night. We loved how we could see the horses from our RV at any time! Free communal firepit with a local brew we brought home was a lovely bonus.

Trail riding at Wild West Campground is the perfect couples activity! We had a fantastic time bonding together over our trail rides. The guides do a great job of pairing everyone with the appropriate horse so that even beginner riders can feel comfortable on their horses, and groups riding together get placed near each other in the trail riding order. It's such a fun shared experience to ride those trails together!

Insider tip! Book trail rides in advance for the best time slot selections!

Second Stop: Lake Emily County Park

Lake Emily County Park offers a variety of family-friendly activities so that everyone can find something they love! Kids will adore the well maintained playground or the short nature trail walk. There's even a fantastic place to wade in the lake on a hot day. This park is large enough to have fun excursions, but small enough to be accessible to everyone!

Downtown Amherst has charming stops and shops for couples to stroll and enjoy! We loved the specialty coffee at The Landmark, desserts from The Village Hive Bakery, unique gift shopping at The Village Gift, colorful street art on the side of Falcon One Stop, and delicious cheese curds from Ambrosia Pub & Grill.

Third Stop: Central Waters Brewing Co.

Central Waters is a fantastic stop for any beer or hard cider lover. The space is so welcoming, especially the outdoor patio at sunset. Local popcorn is available for sale and there are delicious food trucks parked outside on weekend evenings! This is the perfect place for a date night or a casual afternoon playing the board games they have available to borrow.

Insider tip! Check the brewery's social media for food truck hours and options!

Other Gems

If you've ever wanted to pull up to a roadside farm stand and walk away with the most gorgeous local bouquet you've ever seen, this is your place! Check their social media for when new blooms are available and bring your $20. You'll be blown away by the beautiful local flowers and how artfully they're arranged to decorate your space.
