Throughout the year, visitors can find a full schedule of performing arts in the Stevens Point Area.
The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point boasts a renowned Department of Theatre & Dance that puts on performances throughout the school year. Danstage, which features original choreography and works from faculty and students, is a popular annual event, as is the annual Festival of the Arts, which highlights creations from artists across the Midwest.
UW-Stevens Point also holds an annual Performing Arts Series that includes theater, dance and musical performances, as well as featured speakers. Previous performers have included The Capitol Steps, author Sherman Alexie, Rusted Root and comedy troupe, The Second City.
You can also fill your schedule with performances from some of the other local groups in the area, including the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra, the Central Wisconsin Area Community Theater (cwACT) and the Point Dance Ensemble, to name a few.
In Amherst, you will find the Lettie Jensen Community Center, which welcomes performers in its yearly Tomorrow River Concert Series. The Jensen Center is also home to the Tomorrow River Chautauqua, which is dedicated to enriching the local community through a wide range of events and activities.
