Pickerel Lake is a clear 40 acre, hard-water marl seepage lake located in the Town of Belmont, just west of Blaine. It is a relatively shallow lake with a maximum depth of 16 feet. Much of the shoreline is public land that is owned by the state. The only developed beach belongs to the camp that owns the balance of the shoreline. The east end of Pickerel Lake offers a boat launch that is open to the public. The fishery at one time was predominantly bass and panfish; however, severe winterkills, low water levels, and oxygen depletion from intense summer algae blooms have impacted the fishery.
