Fat Tire Biking

Try gaining a little more speed by exploring the miles of winter biking available at Standing Rocks Park. Never been? Snowshoeing

Grab your snowshoes and explore the connection between outdoor recreation and the arts on the ½ mile Stevens Point Sculpture Park Trail. The 20-acre park provides stunning views plus nature with a distinct backdrop of regional and national artwork. More snowshoe trails can be found at the George W. Mead Wildlife Area, Ice Age Trail, and Standing Rocks County Park.

Snowmobiling

Portage County offers more than 300 miles of scenic groomed snowmobile trails. Grab your helmets and fire up the sled to spend the day exploring on the trails. For information on trail conditions call the Portage County Parks Department at 715-343-6277. Trail maps can be found along the trail at participating businesses or by stopping in at the Stevens Point Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. View online here!

Cross-Country Skiing

The Plover River Trail, a segment of the Green Circle Trail, offers a groomed 6.2-mile loop for cross-country skiing when the conditions are present. The segment is wooded and runs along the scenic Plover River. For more trails to explore, try Standing Rocks County Park or the New Hope-Iola ski hill segment of the Ice Age Trail.

Sledding

Grab the family and bundle up for some winter fun at Iverson Park. Bring a sled and enjoy the sledding hills, with one specifically for young children. This park also features toboggan slides, a lighted ice-skating rink, and a warming house. Or snowshoeing along the Plover River as it winds through the park.
