Back to school season is among us, and for some students they are starting their freshman year as a Pointer at UW-Stevens Point. Move in day is buzzing with excitement as families make the haul with their vehicle full of dorm necessities. Once the unpacking is done, families are left with the opportunity to explore the Stevens Point Area and see what this wonderful community has in store for their child. Since there is so much to do in the area, here are some activities to fill your day with.

Stevens Point Brewery

Tour one of the oldest breweries in the nation and see how  their products are made from start to finish. Enjoy samples, explore the gift shop, and maybe take home their Black Cherry Cream soda to make ice cream floats.

Emy J’s

Looking for a place to stop in to eat that can please the whole family? Emy J’ has something for everyone with their variety of burgers, wraps, salads and yes, ice cream. They also serve coffee, teas, shakes, and local beer. Afterwards, swing by The Main Grain Bakery to pick up a loaf of asiago thyme or a delicious scone.

Sculpture Park

Take a stroll through the wooded trails and enjoys the art installations created by local, regional, and national artist. There are now over 30 pieces scattered throughout the forest and is a great place to take the family. The park is open from sunrise to sunset 365 days a year.

Museum of Natural History

This museum is right on campus in the university library featuring eleven areas of natural history. The public is welcomed to walk through the exhibits filled with visuals and interactive games that can be enjoyed by all ages.

Riverfront Art Center

Come support great works by local and regional artist by stopping in the art center near Pfiffner Park. Check out their exhibits on display such as paintings, pottery, jewelry, and much more.
