Gather at Goerke Field for the Spud Bowl on Saturday, October 15 beginning at noon with kick-off at 1 p.m. Enjoy free potatoes, fries, and root beer while watching UW-Stevens Point play UW-Stout.
For over 35 years, the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, in conjunction with over 50 local businesses, has celebrated the Central Wisconsin agriculture industry by raising awareness about the importance of agriculture locally and funding scholarships for students from the area. The event will kick off when the gates open at noon with a Spud Hunt to find golden potatoes that will be traded in for prizes, including gift cards to local businesses. This year potatoes are donated by Hamerski Farms and the French fries are donated, once again by McCain Foods. They are baked and fried right inside the stadium and served to anyone that would like a locally grown potato. You can wash it down with some Point Root Beer donated by Point Brewery. Chippewa Valley Bean is also making up some chili to add as a topping to your fries or baked potato. By paying the entry fee to the football game you'll be served potatoes, fries, and root beer FREE of charge!
