On Sunday September 3rd, crowd favorite, Typhanie Monique will be back to sing for her home town beginning at 3pm. Brush up on your dancing, Salsa Manzana from Appleton will have you moving at 5:00pm. featuring UWSP alum, Mikel Avery, on drums. The Chicago group is focused on bringing all genres of pop music into jazz. At 7pm, brilliant, world-class guitarist, Russell Malone who has played with just about everyone, will close the festival.
The Riverfront Jazz Festival began in 2004 with over 2,000 people attending and became a two-day event in 2005. The Riverfront Jazz Festival quickly became the largest jazz festival in Central Wisconsin. Now in its 14th year, it continues to grow with an estimated 5,000 festival-goers. We've presented artists such as Miguel Zenón, Tom Harrell, Benny Golson, Davina and the Vagabonds, and many others while raising thousands of dollars for the students of UWSP's Jazz Music Program.
Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs, and there will be a wide variety of food from local vendors available for purchase. This Labor Day weekend plan to bring your family to the Festival to kick back and relax during the last days of summer. And again, please consider donating to this fantastic event so we can continue to enjoy it for FREE!
