Most astronomical pictures that we find in magazines or on TV are absolutely breathtaking. However, these images are often very different than what we would see with a telescope. So, what do the night sky objects really look like when viewed through a telescope or a pair of binoculars? During the program, you will get an idea of the kind of objects are available in the night sky, portrayed in a way that accurately reflects how you might see them during an actual observing session. We then compare them to the observatory photos and spacecraft views. Sometimes, first-time observers are disappointed that the objects they see don’t look like the colorfully detailed photos. Hopefully you’ll leave with a better appreciation of the wonders you can actually see from your own backyard.
