  • With their eight creepy-crawly legs, spiders strike fear in many of us. Are they out to get us, or do we misjudge them? Explore the world of Schmeeckle’s spiders and find out whether they can be your friend or your foe. Presented by Cameron Dunn 

    Join UW-Stevens Point student naturalists for free, hands-on programs that explore the outdoors. All ages are invited!

    Special COVID-19 procedures for in-person Family Nature Programs

    Due to COVID-19, the following procedures have been established:

    • Registration required: You must register to attend these free nature programs. No walk-in attendees will be allowed. To register, e-mail Include the programs you want to attend, the number in your group, your e-mail address, and your phone number. We will confirm your registration via e-mail. Space is limited to 25 attendees at each event.
    • No indoor programs: All programs will be outdoors; please dress for the weather. In case of heavy rain or storms, we will contact registrants and reschedule the program for the rain date listed. All programs begin at the Pankowski Friends Amphitheater near the Schmeeckle Reserve Visitor Center unless otherwise noted. The visitor center will not be open to participants; a portable toilet will be available at the parking lot.
    • Face coverings required: All attendees must wear face coverings during the program, per UWSP requirements. The presenter also will wear a face covering.
    • Social distancing required: All attendees must practice social distancing during the program. Each household group must remain 6 feet away from other participant groups.
    • Cancellations: In the event of a canceled program, registered attendees will be notified as soon as possible.
