Combined Choirs to perform songs of love at UW-Stevens Point

  • Enjoy songs about love as the combined voices of several choirs at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point perform a concert titled “O My Luve” at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 28.

    The concert will be held in Michelsen Hall of the Noel Fine Arts Center, 1800 Portage St., Stevens Point. The Concert Choir, Choral Union and Campus Choir are under the direction of Shawn Cody Miller, assistant professor and director of Choral Activities in the Department of Music.

    The concert will include Johann Pachelbel’s “Nun Danket Alle Gott” for double choir and “Sicut Cervus” by Giovanni Palestrina. Songs featuring stories of love include “O My Luve’s Like a Red, Red Rose” by René Clausen, “A Boy and a Girl” by Eric Whitacre, “Il Bianco e Dolce Cigno” by Jacques Arcadelt, and “My Spirit Sang All Day” by Gerald Finzi.

    Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for UW-Stevens Point students, faculty and youth, and free the day of the concert for students with a UW-Stevens Point ID if not sold out. Tickets also may be purchased at the door if available. Proceeds benefit student scholarships.
