During July 2017, the cast and crew of Around the Corner with John McGivern quietly worked their way through the communities in the Stevens Point Area. Along the way, they talked with locals and visited as many places as their ambitious schedule allowed. What were they looking for? The reason why people love to live, work and play in the Stevens Point Area.

The week started, where all good stories should, looking at the past. They dove into the historical background for the Stevens Point Area. With the perspective set, John McGivern explored working life in the region. Going behind the scenes to see how things work here, he stopped at American Governor in Amherst to learn how things work inside of a dam. In Stevens Point, he ventured to Ki Mobility to learn more about this inventive company specializing in lightweight wheelchairs before meeting the face behind Assembly Shop for a quick wardrobe lesson. Of course, no conversation about the working life of the region could skip agriculture, so John made his way to Wysocki/RPE. In Bancroft he met the local hero, the potato, that is grown widely across the region.

John continued by exploring the region to find out how people live and play here. John started at the historic Stevens Point Brewery and learned about quality control for a local flavor powerhouse. Hungry for more, he grabbed a seat at Father Fats Public House and met the chef at the helm, and played with toys at the one-of-a-kind, Gepetto’s, thriving in downtown Stevens Point. Before he was done, it was time to test his knowledge of local trivia culture, including a visit with the one and only 'Oz' from 90FM Trivia.

His last stop brought him to the SentryWorld Golf Course with Mayor Wiza for a surprise finish.
