Join me on my dining adventure to Stevens Point Area restaurants as we follow our fork, this time at El Jefe Tacos y Tequila. This blog is part of a video series that highlights farm to fork cuisine. For more information on farm to fork cuisine, check out the Central Wisconsin Farm Fresh Atlas.
In all honesty, I ate the entire plate of slow roasted pork nachos that Chef Christian made for me at El Jefe Tacos y Tequila. There were so many flavors from the corn queso sauce, their homemade pico de gallo and southwest sour cream. Each element paired perfectly with one another. Everything tasted authentic and fresh. Bonus: it was gluten free!
Know before you go!
There is definitely a variety of food to enjoy with big flavor! If you like a little heat then you will love the slow roasted pork nachos! It’s perfect to share, or if you’re really hungry you could probably finish it on your own!
Good for you?
There is something for everyone on the menu! There are gluten free, dairy free and vegetarian options that taste good! Using fresh and local ingredients allows the chef to accommodate most requests!
Tupac and Tacos!
Every Tuesday they have tacos for $2. How can you beat that? While enjoying your tacos with a side of Tupac, be sure to check out the large scale traditional Dia de los Muertos mural on their wall designed by Sam Selle!
21 and over paradise!
Their drink menu is as big as their entrée menu so you’re going to want to try a signature house-barreled tequila beverage. Their tequila is aged in a barrel from Central Waters, another nod to great local flavor.
A big thank you to Chef Christian and his team at El Jefe for letting me come in and try some of their authentic Mexican food with a modern flare! Don’t forget to take a picture of what you get and share it with all of your friends! #yummyinmytummy
