Outdoor Adventures

Tomorrow River State Trail

Enjoy 28 miles of beautiful rural scenery on the rails to trails area, the Tomorrow River State Trail

Green Circle Trail

Your dog will love exploring the miles of trails on the Green Circle Trail! With multiple sections, you can choose which route you and your furry friend want to take, or choose to do the whole thing. The Green Circle Trail is open year-round, so you can enjoy in sun or snow.

Just be sure to avoid the University Trail and Schmeeckle Reserve as they are not pet-friendly.

Stevens Point Sculpture Park

For an artsy adventure, visit the Stevens Point Sculpture Park with your dog. As a detour from the Brickyard Trail part of the Green Circle Trail, this half-mile segment is jam-packed with regional, national, and international art!

Dog Parks

Let your pooches off-leash at the Stevens Point Dog Park or the Standing Rocks Dog Park! With large fenced-in areas and walking trails, you and your dog will have equal amounts of fun.

More Outdoor Fun

If you're not the trail type, take a walk around the University where your pup will feel right at home with the Pointers. For fun parks with the whole family, check out Bukolt ParkPfiffner Pioneer Park, or Iverson Park.

Wags & Water

Wisconsin River

The Stevens Point Area is lucky to have the Wisconsin River and plenty of lakes nearby for fido and the family to enjoy. The Wisconsin River is the perfect place for boating, fishing, ice fishing, sandbars, and more that your pet can be a part of!

Pets are allowed to swim in the river but must be on a leash until they get in the water.

Mead Park Dog Beach

For a dog-friendly beach, head to Mead Park on the west side of the Wisconsin River. This spot, which opened in the summer of 2020, offers an off-leash pet area with a place to frolic in the sand and water.

Pickerel Lake & Sunset Lake

If you enjoy the lake life, take your dog to Pickerel Lake in Almond and enjoy a walk surrounding upland wooded with oaks of varying sizes and ages. Let your dog have the time of their life by jumping off the boat landing at Sunset Lake Park.

Just to be safe, make sure to check local water qualities posted by the P.C. Health Department to ensure your pup isn’t swimming in green algae.

Local Pet Shops

There are some great local pet shops in the Stevens Point Area that let you take your furry friend right in with you.

Shop with your pooch at The Companion Shop in downtown Stevens Point. While you're there, you can give your dog a bath at the do-it-yourself pet wash, afterwards they can get their post-bath zoomies out in the play area, or simply let them pick out a toy all on their own!

Located off of Church St. is another fun shop, BowWow Meow Boutique. While there, let your pup pick out a cookie or grab a beer for each of you (dog-safe beer for fido of course) and sit out on the patio.

Where to Stay

If you need a place to stay with your pet in town, book the Country Mission Farm near Lake DuBay where you can enjoy a private 4-bedroom country home. There, you and your pooch can take in the beautiful sites of the Stevens Point Area and enjoy outdoor activities available to you. If you're looking for a traditional hotel, The Inn at SentryWorld and Cobblestone Hotel & Suites are both great options in addition to other local stays.

Outdoor adventure more your speed? There are countless pet-friendly campsites and cabins in the area! Hartman Creek State Park even has a pet-friendly picnic area. Each campsite and cabin has its own set of rules for when you and your pup are visiting. Make sure you read them ahead of time to keep both you and your dog safe.

Summertime Spots

Some activities with your furry best friends need to wait until the weather warms up, and they are worth the wait! Take your dog to Belt's Soft Serve, where you can get an ice cream cone and your pet can enjoy a pup cone from this hometown favorite. For more fun in the sun and delicious food and drink, visit Emy J's Coffee House and Cafe and sit outside. If craft brews or cocktails are more your fancy, check out the list of dog-friendly patios and beer gardens. For more, don't overlook patio seating at Hilltop Bar and GrillGuu's on Main, or Bullheads Bar and Grill

For dog-friendly activities in downtown Stevens Point, stop by the square and let your dog cool off in the fountain! During the growing season, bring fido and the family downtown for the Farmer's Market.
